Congratulations to Caleb Howland, of USI, for being named the Difference Card Broker Partner of the Month for May 2024! Caleb Howland is a Senior Employee Benefits Advisor for USI in their Fort Lauderdale, Florida office.
Caleb recently worked with Senior Consultant Oldemar Da Silva from The Difference Card’s Southeast Team to help a food and beverage organization reduce their health insurance spend by -18%, worth over $380,000 in net annual savings.
This company operates restaurants in over 200 locations across the country. With 178 employees enrolled in their health plan, this organization was spending $1.6 million on their health insurance program. After receiving a 30% renewal this year, the company health insurance expenses would have exceeded $2 million annually. Caleb came to the table with a creative solution through the Difference Card to help the group get their renewal back down to the single digits.
Caleb worked closely with Oldemar from the Difference Card to find a plan design solution that would not only reduce their costs, but also improve the benefit structure for their staff. Caleb was able to negotiate a -33% decrement with the carrier to reduce their fixed costs by $700,000. In addition to the cost savings, Caleb was able to improve the benefits for this employer using The Difference Card strategy.
